I recently purchased a copy of the Enchanted soundtrack and one of my favorite songs is That's How You Know. It is a sweet song about all of the things guys can do for the girl they love to let them know of their affections. I think the music in this song is so catchy and I regularly find myself wanting to dance when I listen to it. I love it when music catches my attention like that!! Some of the things mentioned in the song may seem cliched but almost any woman would find those things sweet and special. Face it, we are suckers for sweet signs of affection!! The female character singing this song is a princess caught in our world wondering why there isn't any old-fashioned romance anymore so instead of the song just being sappy, it makes a point. Sometimes it can feel like the world we live in looks down on simple shows of affection and we feel like we have to hide it instead of let ourselves accept the sappy romantic things. For those moments when we should feel like a princess, we hide our affection because it is considered sappy instead of romantic. I think that is sad, but I must admit I do that at times without thinking about it.
Women should occasionally feel like a princess, I think it is great for our self-esteem and for me, makes me feel loved! The hard part about that is getting past how the world looks at us; like we should hide our emotions because it isn't professional. In this story (Enchanted) the heroine is one who will burst out in song just because she feels like it. Now, I am aware that bursting out in song would probably not go over very with the people around us and most would probably assume that we have gone crazy if we did. I'm not suggesting that we should act like Disney Princesses and sing and dance to tell of our emotions but I do think that being open to our emotions is good for us and is something we should do! I know this entry is totally random but I thought I would just state some random thoughts! Thanks for reading!
